Parker

Starring: Jason Statham, Jennifer Lopez, and Michael Chiklis Directed by: Taylor Hackford Screenplay by: John J. McLaughlin Jason Statham is back, and you know what that means...      Parker (Jason Statham) is a thief part of a team looking to cash in on a massive prize.  He's double crossed by the rest of the crew and left for dead.  If they say they're going to kill him, they should follow through with it because if they don't, Parker's going to make them regret not doing so.  With the help of a Palm Beach, Florida real estate agent, Leslie Rodgers (Jennifer Lopez), Parker has a chance at getting back at the guys who tried to kill him and get that massive prize.  Watch out Palm Beach, because some crazy action is coming to you.      It's a Jason Statham movie.  It's another movie filled with lots of ass-kicking action, but surprisingly, there's not as much in this film as one would expect based on Statham's other films like Crank or The Expendabl

Broken City

Starring: Mark Wahlberg, Russell Crowe, and Catherine Zeta-Jones Directed by: Allen Hughes Screenplay by: Brian Tucker There's really only one city where this kind of story could actually be real, New York.      Billy Taggart (Mark Wahlberg) is a disgraced NYPD officer who loses his job because of a case that he's involved in that somewhat resembles the Trayvon Martin case in Florida from 2012.  But Mayor Hostetler (Russell Crowe) thinks Billy is a hero.  Seven years later, the mayor calls on Taggart to investigate his wife whom he thinks is having an affair.  It's pretty risky because the mayoral election is only a few days away and his campaign could be in for some trouble.  So, for a small reward, Taggart investigates the mayor's wife, but is it just an affair?  Or is it something more serious and could it damage Hostetler's chances of re-election?       This is the kind of movie that's just mindless entertainment for almost two hours.  It's filled

A Review of the Golden Globes

The first film I saw of 2012 was a film starring Mark Wahlberg called Contraband.   It was not the way I'd hoped the year would start off and I took it as a sign that 2012 was going to be a bad year for Hollywood.  If it was any indication of what the rest of the year was going to hold, I wouldn't have been so happy.  Obviously there were the films that we all knew were going to be great like The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises.         I think I gave more A grades to movies in 2012 than in years past.  As the year progressed, I found the quality of movies getting better.  Heck, the reason I saw The Man With The Iron Fists , the film directed by RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan, was that I needed to give something a bad grade.  I was worried that I was being too lenient with my grades and liking too many movies.  Well, I'm here to tell you that there is NEVER a problem of liking too many movies.  And that brings me to the beginning of 2013.       It's award season aga

Django Unchained

Starring: Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington, and Samuel L. Jackson Directed by: Quentin Tarantino Screenplay by: Quentin Tarantino      I think it's safe to say that this film is the most badass film of 2012.  My only explanation; Quentin Tarantino!!!!      When someone asks what a Quentin Tarantino film is about, I first respond with "that's a good question".  But there is actually a real story behind all of his films, including Django Unchained.        Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz) is a bounty hunter in the pre-Civil War South.  He's looking for a group of bandits known as the Brittle brothers.  He comes across a slave in a slave transport known as Django (the D is silent (Jamie Foxx)), who knows where to find the Brittle brothers.  But Django has a wife he wants to find (Kerry Washington).  She's a slave at a plantation owned by Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio).  But they can't just go straight to the "Can
