Unknown

Starring: Liam Neeson, Diane Kruger, and January Jones Directed by:   Jaume Collet-Serra Screenplay by: Oliver Butcher and Stephen Cornwell     "They had me convinced I was crazy.  But when they came to take me I knew."  Identity theft is a major problem in today's world, but it can't get much worse than the situation present in Unknown .       While on a trip to a biotechnology conference in Berlin, Germany, Dr. Martin Harris (Liam Neeson) is involved in a car crash putting him in a coma for four days.  He awakens to find out that not only has his identity been taken, but he has been replaced by someone who also claims to be him.  Even his wife Elizabeth (January Jones) claims to not recognize him.  He begins to believe that his entire life has been thrown away, or never existed at all.  As he finds people who can help him remember what happened to him before the crash, he becomes part of a conspiracy involving...

Just Go With It

Starring: Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston, and Brooklyn Decker Directed by: Dennis Dugan Screenplay by: Allan Loeb and Timothy Dowling     How would you lie about your relationship status and who you're in a relationship with?  Adam Sandler knows the answer.     Just as Danny Macabee (Adam Sandler) meets Palmer (Brooklyn Decker) and decides that she's perfect for him, she finds a wedding ring in his possession, yet he does not have a wife.  He lies to her saying that he is going through a divorce and everything will be okay after that.  But Palmer wants to meet her.  His work partner Katherine (Jennifer Aniston) poses as his "wife".  As more information about them spills out, Palmer wants to know it all.  Will this fake couple come together or will Danny fall for Palmer in the end?     It seems like every once in a while in the storyline, we are forced to ask ourselves, why would Palmer care?  Isn't Dan...

Sanctum

Starring: Rhys Wakefield, Richard Roxburgh, Ioan Gruffudd, and Alice Parkinson Directed by: Alister Grierson Screenplay by: John Garvin and Andrew Wight      "Where else can you shine a light in a place that no one's ever seen before?"  Is it a good idea to explore unexplored parts of a cave right before a storm?  Probably not, but for these guys, it's only the beginning.      When a cave diving team faces life threatening circumstances while exploring the least accessible and least explored cave system in the world, how do they get out?  As they move through the cave, less and less of them make it out alive.  How do they choose who lives and who dies?  And what sacrifices are they going to have to make in order to get out of the cave alive?  And lastly, will they make it?      The actors do a fine job in their roles.  It's interesting to see how they interact with the decisions they have to make in or...

2011 Oscar Nominations

The nominations are finally out for the 83 rd Academy Awards.   The race for some of the awards are close whereas some have a clear winner already.   Here are a few highlights form some of the categories and what to look for as winners.               For Best Adapted Screenplay, the race is really between two films; “The Social Network” and “True Grit”.   Both films are written extremely well and are deserving of this award.   I hope Aaron Sorkin will win the award for “The Social Network” because the film is based on a true story, whereas “True Grit” is a remake of an old western.   Sorkin’s script offers insight into what Mark Zuckerberg’s lawsuits were like and how he handled them.   It is also much more dramatic than the Coen brothers’ script for “True Grit”.   This category will hopefully be an interesting one, but I hope “The Social Network” wins.       ...

The Dilemma

Starring: Vince Vaughn, Kevin James, Jennifer Connelly, and Winona Ryder Directed by: Ron Howard Screenplay by: Allan Loeb      When Vince Vaughn and Kevin James are in the same movie, I normally think the movie would be a comedy.  However, "The Dilemma" is actually a serious film about something that many Americans go through every year.  What happens when your spouse is cheating?      Ronny Valentine (Vince Vaughn) and his best friend, Nick Brannen, (Kevin James) are car engine designers who are working to get a contract with Chrysler to put an awesome new line of engine in some Dodge models.  Nick is married to Geneva (Winona Ryder) and Ronny is trying to get engaged to Beth (Jennifer Connelly).  While visiting a botanical garden where Ronny plans to propose to Beth, he discovers that Geneva is hanging around with another guy, Zip (Channing Tatum).  He is faced with a tough situation.  Does he tell Nick about what's rea...

The Green Hornet

Starring: Seth Rogen, Jay Chou, Cameron Diaz, and Christoph Waltz Directed by: Michel Gondry Screenplay by: Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg      Can Seth Rogen and Jay Chou be the next great Hollywood duo?  After seeing "The Green Hornet", I don't think so.  This action packed, not-so-funny, comedy of a movie lacks story, decent 3D effects, but contains good action scenes.      When Britt Reid's (Seth Rogen) father, James Reid (Tom Wilkinson) dies, Britt inherits his father's media empire.  He soon discovers one of the people working for his father who becomes his sidekick, Kato (Jay Chou).  Together they team up as the Green Hornet and fight crime in Los Angeles, controlled by Benjamin Chudnofsky (Christoph Waltz).  Will they be able to stop Chudnofsky while still reporting about the Green Hornet in Britt's newspaper, despite constant tensions between Britt and Kato?      The biggest problem in this film is the overd...
